Police Say Shooting Victim Was Wanted for Handling Stolen Goods

According to an official report on the police-involved shooting, they were at the corner of King Street and East Collet Canal attempting to detain Swaso for handling stolen goods, when he ran away. The report goes on to say that police set chase after Swaso who escaped into a bushy lot. While searching the overgrown property, Swaso tried to grab the police firearm and that’s when a struggle ensued and the firearm went off, hitting the victim in the chest. Today, police officers were canvassing the area speaking with residents about what happened. Swaso’s girlfriend says she has questions.
