Salvadoran National On the Run in Belize Wanted for Rape of Minor
Yovany Sandoval, a twenty-six-year-old man who is wanted in his home country of El Salvador for an alleged rape of a minor in that country, will be deported after a magistrate issued a removal order today. Sandoval, who had been on the run in Belize for the past five years, was deemed a prohibited immigrant. Martinez is expected to be sent back home by the end of this week, where authorities in El Salvador will file a charge of rape against him. Martinez was caught living in Belize on March first, when police in the Orange Walk District apprehended him and handed him over to immigration officials after checks were made about his immigration status. Martinez has been on remand at the Belize Central Prison for since March when he was denied bail.
