Public and Bank Holiday in Honor of Queen Elizabeth II

An unexpected day off for government and private sector employees next Monday; News Five has confirmed that the day of the state funeral for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth the Second will be recognized as a public and bank holiday in Belize. The Queen will be laid to rest on Monday, September nineteenth. Several Commonwealth countries, including Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago have already announced public and bank holidays to honor the Queen. This day is also recognized in Belize as National Service Day, in memory of Right Honorable George Cadle Price. Information to News Five is that National Service Day will be celebrated with the annual wreath laying ceremony at the gravesite of the Father of the Nation in Belize City.
