Still No Sign of Relief at the Fuel Pumps
During an interview with Prime Minister John Briceño earlier today, he was asked about the exorbitant fuel prices, which have been the highest the country has experienced. The P.M. was asked about the fuel contingency fund which was established with the Central Bank of Belize to keep the prices at the pump fixed, and if it has been replenished. He was also asked when consumers would get relief.
Prime Minister John Briceño
“I cannot answer you that right now because it has not been replenished. We have already lost over twenty million dollars so we have to find a way how we can address this and see how we can find a balance in trying to give relief to people but at the same time we have to collect taxes. That’s the only way we can give the overtime to the nurses and to pay the teachers and everybody and to fix the broken infrastructure that we inherited.”
