Earthquake Rocks Taiwan; PM Briceño Sends Thoughts and Prayer

A six point nine magnitude earthquake shook most of Taiwan on Saturday evening, leaving at least one person confirmed dead, buildings toppled, trains derailed, and persons trapped for hours. Reports are that the six point nine magnitude earthquake was the strongest of seventy-five quakes that shook the island’s south-eastern coast between Saturday evening and Sunday afternoon. In a Facebook release, Prime Minister John Briceño sent his thoughts and prayers to the people and government of Taiwan saying “our condolence in relation to the reported death and our prayer for those injured and affected by the destruction of building and properties. Our thoughts are with our Belizean students, especially those within proximity to the affected areas”.
