Belize City Man Shot to the Leg, Not Cooperating with Police

A Belize City resident was the victim of a shooting on Friday night. Edward Hall was socialising at the corner of George Street and Rocky Road when two men on a motorcycle rode up and fired three shots in the yard. Hall was struck to the leg and taken to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital. He has since self-discharged and is not cooperating with the police. Assistant Superintendent Fitzroy Yearwood told the media today that they are investigating.

“At around 10:38 p.m., police visited the K.H.M.H. where they saw forty-four-year-old Edward Hall suffering from apparent gunshot wound to the left leg. Initially, Edward Hall reported to the police that he was socializing in his yard at that location with a few of his friends when a black motorcycle with two occupants approached them. A person fired three shots in their direction, one of which caused his injury. These persons them got back on their motorbike and drove off towards Racecourse Street. Our officers are still trying to establish the identity of those assailants.”

“Are the police expecting any act of retaliation given that this area is known to be a gang hotspot?”

ASP Fitzroy Yearwood

“Well, we are hoping not. But like you said, we have to expect anything so we know that investigators have been actively employed by this. And like I said, we are trying our very best to identify these assailants to deter any further shootings.”
