Arrest Made in Matthew Smith Murder

Police have made an arrest in connection with the murder of twenty-nine-year-old San Ignacio resident Matthew Smith. The murder suspect has been identified as Christian Kelly, a twenty-two-year-old a resident of Roman Catholic Street in San Ignacio Town.  As we reported, Smith was stabbed to death on Independence Day while attending an event at the Macal River Park. According to police, Smith got into an altercation with a group of men outside the park. It was during that altercation the suspect allegedly stabbed him with a sharp object. Police linked that fatal incident to another fight involving Smith that took place the night before.
