B.P.F Leader Says Opposition Members of Parliament Have Proposed Joining the B.P.F.
It has been a while since the United Democratic Party has seen bright days. The clash between former leader Patrick Faber – dethroned and cast out by current leader Moses “Shyne” Barrow, has been the talk in political circles recently. And if we could have gotten names to contact, then the information we are about to share would have been bombshell news. But all we have to go on are the words of a third party’s leader that members of the U.D.P. have expressed a desire to break free and merge with the Belize People’s Front. Today, Nancy Marin told News Five that two serving parliamentarians of the U.D.P. have proposed teaming up with the B.P.F. While one was ready to wait out their term of office, she said that the other is ready to do so immediately.

“We are welcoming some of the members of the United Democratic Party – candidates and general members – but it will have to take time because they are in parliament and we are not. But come the next general elections, I think that the country will be surprised about the names because honestly, a lot of their members have really had enough. We can’t give names about that right now because we’re still talking, we’re still negotiating, we’re still trying to figure out the legalities how that will go and it is dangerous to trigger bi-elections. I didn’t imagine they were going to get this bad, but I think that more than the U.D.P., the voters need to prepare for that. I think that what Belize will see is something different. Belize will see the rise of a strong third party now.”
