Two go on shooting spree
Two Belize City men who terrorized a neighborhood on Friday night appear to have inflicted more injuries by hitting people with their guns than by firing them. Marlon Budd told police he was riding his bicycle on Central American Boulevard near Antelope Street when Mark Henry and Kareem Swazo approached. Mark Henry reportedly began beating him in the head with a handgun. Budd jumped off his bike, and ran into Pelican Street. Henry reportedly fired shots but missed. A few moments later, an unsuspecting Darren Young came along Pelican Street on his bike and Henry and Swazo reportedly attacked again. Not taking any chances this time, Kareem Swazo allegedly held onto Young while Henry proceeded to hit him in the face with what Young identified as a nine millimeter. But like his earlier counterpart, Darren Young got off his bike and ran, and once again Henry fired shots, but missed. In the meantime, Darren’s younger brother Kevin, who had observed the attack, ran to the scene but he too was confronted by the gun totting Henry, who fired at him, but true to form, missed. Police apprehended twenty-six year old Mark Henry and yesterday eighteen year old Kareem Swazo turned himself in. Both have been charged with three counts of attempted murder, aggravated assault, harm and wounding.
