Dead baby is result of abortion
The release of an autopsy conducted on the body of an infant found at the city dump earlier this week has provided police with a clearer picture of how the child died. But it has also raised new questions about the gruesome discovery. According to Dr. Mario Estradabran’s findings, the baby girl was the victim of an abortion that was performed in the third trimester of the pregnancy. According to head of C.I.B. Simeon Alvarez, investigations reveal that the fetus was at least six months developed and that its lungs had not taken in any air.

“What happened is that an abortion did take place. And as a result of that the child, who could have been a living person, died during that abortion. So it is being treated as a homicide due to the cause of death.
We need to really find out if the child is from the hospital, definitely we will need to consult the attendants and other authorities to tell us how the child got from the morgue, and not to the cemetery and ended up at the dump site. So we are investigating that part.
As a matter of fact the child had a tag on one of its hands. So we are looking at it on both sides. It could be an alibi to trick the police, the investigation, or it could be that it was accidentally released from the morgue and then ended up at the dumpsite. So we are looking at it at both angles. It could be negative and it could be positive.”
Alvarez says that based on the tag found on the child’s hand, the mother’s identity is known to police. Authorities are appealing to the young woman or anyone who knows her whereabouts to call the nearest police station.
