B.C.C.I. Expo 2022 Award Winners Announced
The Belize Chamber of Commerce and Industry today awarded its Belize Expo 2022 winners. Numerous awards were given in various categories, including best female entrepreneur, best overall booth, most creative booth, most professional booth, most innovative booth, and best male entrepreneur. We spoke with the President of B.C.C.I., Marcelo Blake, as well as the winner of the Best Female Entrepreneur Award, Nika’s Seamoss.

“We enjoyed having everybody back. We are extremely happy to have the numbers come back. They are not where they were pre pandemic, but they are getting there. More so, the growth in the actual show has expanded. We had over two hundred booths this time. So, we expect that it will continue to grow the years to come.”

“One of the distinguishing marks we noted was a lot more small businesses. What does that say about the growth of that sector in Belize?”

“Micro, small, and medium size businesses are the back bone of what will take us into the future of growing this economy and that is important. So, you will see a lot more event that the chamber will sponsor. You know of the June event which is made in Belize, the Expo, and we will plan something in December which is focused around your small and medium size business, the micro business as well, to ensure there is an opportunity for them to showcase what they have to offer to the Belizean public.”

“It was shocking. I was tired. So, when I heard it all the last energy left in me, I was like wow.”

“What sort of work did you put in?”

“I went natural, because this is seamoss, the seaweed. So we went with the sea finish, the rope, the fish, the sea with the two different colors, the shells, the anchors, everything.”

“What kinda products you offer?”

“We offer seamoss capsule, seamoss gels, and seamoss soaps.”

“I am located at home out of my kitchen.”
