P.U.P. Celebrates 72nd Anniversary

Today, the People’s United Party is celebrating seventy-two years as a political organization in Belize. In a Facebook post, Prime Minister John Briceño reflected on the P.U.P.’s history saying “Our P.U.P. journey started people and nation focused. Father of the Nation, Right Honorable George Cadle Price’s life was committed to service, self-determination and the development of Belize. For all his years with us, his leadership demonstrated and urged this commitment. At seventy-two our Plan Belize agenda is demonstrating that commitment”.Minister Kareem Musa also commented on the P.U.P.’s seven decades of service to Belize.

“I want to take this opportunity to wish all members of our great People’s United Party a very happy birthday, happy anniversary. This is the party of Mr. Price, of development, and of course Independence and the party that is best suited to rebound in terms of our economy and bolstering our economy. We have a track record of that. As you can see, each year the P.U.P. is in office there is a surplus unlike the United Democratic Party. But it is a very proud moment for us to be celebrating today. We will be celebrating in our respective constituencies. I will be going into the Caribbean Shores and awarding one of our constituents with the George Price Service Award. That for us is what it really is all about, humble service to the people of Belize and at the same time acknowledging those around us who have the very same drive, that very same commitment to uplift our country. I believe we are still very connected to our social justice roots. It may be a different version in terms of enabling our people to become independent themselves. Like I was saying earlier, a lot of our focus is on education, good housing, improving the health care system of our people, not necessarily hand outs but instead hand ups. I think that is where we want to be as a government and as a party that is our focus.”
