Missing girl found stabbed to death
One month after she was reported missing, the mystery over the disappearance of a thirteen year old girl has been solved… at least partially. The body of Sherilee Nicholas was found on Thursday afternoon on a feeder road, just off the Western Highway at mile thirteen. According to lead investigator Sergeant Francisco Patt, a man doing contract work for B.E.L. in the area first discovered the body and alerted authorities. Police say when they visited the scene, they found Nicholas’ body, already starting to decompose, in a ditch, partially submerged in a pool of water. An on the spot postmortem examination concluded that Nicholas had been stabbed to death and although there are no suspects at this time, investigators believe that the girl attempted to fight off her attacker.
Sgt. Francisco Patt, Lead Investigator
“He said that the girl died as a result of internal and external hemorrhage due to the stab wounds that she received.”
Q: “She was stabbed?”
Sgt. Francisco Patt
“She was stabbed on the left side of the chest and in the right palm of her hand.”
Q: “Judging from what you just told me, she was stabbed in her chest and one of her hands, does it look as if though the girl put up a fight?”
Sgt. Francisco Patt
“Well, the way it shows, yes, I believe she supposed to either was defending herself from that stabbing because her hand, her palm was stabbed. So to me it looks like she was defending herself.”
According to her mother June Gabourel, her daughter left for school on the eighth of September, and that was the last time that she saw her alive.
