Students win trip to Mexico

Two Belizean students have captured top honors in competitions sponsored by the Mexican government. According to a press release from the Mexican Embassy, Otoniel Che from Escuela Secundaria Tecnica Mexico was awarded the “Mexico-Central America” prize for being the student with the highest grade average while Aniki Lopez of Sacred Heart School in Dangriga gets the “Mexico City” prize for the best drawing submitted from Belize. According to the release, the competitions were organized by the Mexican Commission for Cooperation with the region. As their prize, both Che and Lopez, along with chaperones, will join other participants from Central America for an all expenses paid week in Mexico City beginning on Wednesday. During their stay in Mexico, the students will be taking part in a number of activities, including a tour of the Museo del Papalote and the Chapultepec Zoo.
