Highway accident kills Cayo man

A traffic accident last night in Santa Elena, Cayo has left one man dead. According to police reports the incident happened shortly after eight o’clock at the junction of the Western Highway and Carillo Puerto Avenue in the town. Thirty-two year old Peter Garcia told police that he was driving his truck towards San Ignacio, when upon reaching the junction a white pickup unexpectedly drove out in front of him. Unable to stop in time, Garcia’s truck slammed into the left side of the smaller vehicle, injuring its driver James Coleman, a resident of Santa Elena Town. Coleman was transported to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital in Belize City where he later died. Garcia was not injured in the accident and police investigations continue.
