Football is focus of weekend sports

Story Picture
Good evening, I’m James Adderley and you’re just in time for another deal of Sports Monday. B.F.L. Football continues to reign supreme on Sunday afternoon here in the Jewel people and here in the city, the fans got another look at the undefeated Yabra Sporting Club who played host to Southern United at the M.C.C. Grounds yesterday.

We go to the kick-off as David McCauly and Paulie Bradley combine to start things off for Yabra. It’s only five minutes deep when this nice feed finds Kevin Rowland who makes no mistake on this opportunity to give the city team a 1-zip lead. At the other end Hilberto Muschamp tries to answer for Southern United but the shot is a bit wide. Southern United goes to the long distance strike but all it does is forces the Yabra keeper to kick up dust.

Yabra comes back immediately with David McCauley who dives in front of the goalkeeper for a cold calculating finish as Yabra goes up 2-zip. Meanwhile folks when the Toledo keeper miscalculates on an attempt at a save, Paulie Bradley makes him pay the maximum price and Yabra takes a 3-zip lead. Just before the half expires Muschamp gets this present for Toledo; alas he looks the gift horse in the mouth.

Out of intermission Southern United ups the pressure unfortunately again they up in front of the goal. David McCauley answers with this long distance launch but it does sail high and wide. Yabra looks to extend the lead on this nice individual effort by Kevin Rowland, but Paulie Bradley fails to find the target. Hey guys, ever seen a header that seems like a comedy of errors? That’s what happens when Albert Hoare gives the ball away to the keeper. Goal number 4 comes late in the ball game when Gilbert Brown hammers from point blank range, Yabra wins 4-zip to take its undefeated record to 2 wins, 1 draw while the Southern United team heads home to lick their wounds.

In other B.F.L. action, Verdes beats Acros 1-zip, Juventus was held to a 1-1 score by Sagitun at Mango Creek on Saturday. At Corozal La Victoria bombed Belmopan Bandits 4-nil while Dangriga overwhelms Juventud Benqueña 4-1.

That’s it. We invite you back same time, same place. Jah over all. I’m James Adderley.
