What Prompted Move to Recall Shyne Barrow as Party Leader?

Noticeably absent from this afternoon’s gathering at the U.D.P. headquarters were parliamentarians Patrick Faber and Tracy Panton. Faber was equally a no-show at Monday’s house meeting in Belmopan, in the wake of another video that was recently released that shows him in a physical altercation with the mother of his child which resulted in him head-butting the woman. Panton also did not attend the house meeting, and on previous occasions, has declined our request for comment on party matters. Nonetheless, the cabal that has chosen to go against Shyne Barrow is confident that it will be successful in removing the Mesop Area Rep as leader of the party.

“When this recall is triggered, we are hoping that nothing gets nasty. The U.D.P. has gone through enough and so we will be meeting privately with the delegates and seeking to campaign with them. That’s about it.”

“What has precipitated this particular position though? What has brought us to this point?”

“Well, we don’t want to go down this road. Like I said, the U.D.P. has been through too much. We have triggered the constitutional requirements of the party in terms of the recall of the party leader and that is what we are doing. We are leaving it at that. We are not here to badmouth the party leader, to badmouth anybody in the party, we are just simply fulfilling Article 7 of our party’s constitution. We move from there. The next step, like I said, we are going privately to speak with the delegates and campaign and we hope that the next side does the same thing.”

“Okay, Mr. August, but there is cause and effect. You’ll forgive me, something had to prompt this particular decision that you guys have taken to seek to recall Mr. Barrow.”

“Yes, but like I said, we are not here for that. We are not here for that. That is an internal party matter. We hope that we can discuss that internally within the party. The party’s business has been out there for too long man. It’s time for that to end.”
