No Increased Fees for Passports
During the senate proceedings today, parliamentarians also weighed on the new passport that the Immigration Department has introduced. Over the past few weeks, information circulating on social media has raised public concern over increased fees for the new travel document. But, contrary to those reports, the Leader of Government Business, Senator Eamon Courtenay, assured Belizeans that the new passport comes with no new fees at this time.
Senator Eamon Courtenay, Leader of Government Business
“We have been getting a lot of questions. It is not the intention of the government to change the fees for applications, renewals, etcetera of the new passports at this time. People have been asking because it was put to Cabinet that we should increase the fees. That is not the intention of the government at this time. I just wanted to clarify that for public consumption.”
