Two boys killed in Cayo hit and run

A traffic accident on Sunday night in Cristo Rey Village, Cayo, has left two boys dead. According to police reports, eleven year old Eduardo Montalvan and fourteen year old Jose Arnoldo Leonardo were riding a bicycle on the Cristo Rey/San Antonio Road when they were knocked down by a vehicle driven by twenty-three year old tour guide from the same village, Everald Tut. Leonardo is reported to have died on the spot, while Montalvan was transported unconscious to the San Ignacio Hospital. He was later transferred to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital in Belize City where he died early Monday morning. Tut, meanwhile, has been arrested and charged with the crimes of causing death by careless conduct, driving without due care and attention, failure to stop and render aid and manslaughter by negligence.
