Ladyville Chinese shop robbed, family beaten, suspect nabbed
A late night hold up in Ladyville, has left a family of four Chinese nationals hospitalized suffering with numerous cuts to their faces. According to Corporal Fredrick Gordon, the officer in charge of the Ladyville Police Station, three men, one armed with a gun and knife entered Jim’s Restaurant at mile nine and half on the Northern Highway around ten thirty Monday night and robbed the proprietor’s cash and jewelry.

“When the men entered the restaurant the motive mainly was robbery because according to the information from the complainant as the person entered the restaurant they demanded, “where is the money, where is the money”. And when they failed to corporate that’s when they started to injure the people and that’s when they came up with where they have the money.”
Q: “What exactly was stolen?”

“Basically only money was stolen. According to them about over seven hundred dollars was stolen.”
Q: “Along with some jewelry?”
Corporal Fredrick Gordon
“Along with some jewelry, some small jewelry, some rings and some earrings.”
Q: “You all managed to arrest a suspect quickly after the robbery. How was this possible?”

“Well with information from the public and passersby. I received very good information and in respect to the information received, I proceeded with the assistance of the public where we proceeded to Rose Garden where we caught up with one of the suspects looking to catch a taxi to go to Belize City.”
Q: “You all are presently looking for the two other men involved in this robbery incident?”

“Yes, we are still doing some investigation and still combing the village because we suspect one of the guys might be from Ladyville who spearhead this robbery.”
Injured in the holdup are forty-three year old businessman, Yan Kuen, forty-two year old housewife, Yin Man Lo, sixteen year old Wan Ki Cheung, and twelve year old Sing Cheung. The man police have since arrested is Nolberto Elijio of Croton Lane in Belize City. When captured, Elijio had in his possession three hundred dollars in cash as well as the stolen jewelry.
