C-Jamm and Jump Street top carnival

Carnival ’98 moved off as scheduled on Friday morning and while the temperature was blistering the enthusiasm of the participants was no less heated. When the road march and judging were over, Jump Street Posse took Junior Band of the Year honors while in the senior category C-Jamm Mas Band made it a three-peat. News Five’s William Neal got a look at the two winners as they got ready to rumble.

The only major hitch in this year’s carnival road march was a six-minute gap in the middle of the parade. What you’re watching now is part of the championship performance by C-Jamm Mas Band. President of C-Jamm is Earl Miller. Costumes were designed by Raul Villanueva, William Usher, Stuart Leslie and Javier Reyes. Once again congratulations to all those Belizeans who played mas in Carnival ’98.
