Man dead in hit and run
A hit and run accident in Corozal on Thursday night has left one man dead and another behind bars. Twenty six year old Santos Gutierrez was knocked down and killed as he attempted to cross the Northern Highway at the junction of Buena Vista and Caledonia villages. Twenty six year old Alexander Pech of San Jose Village in the Orange Walk District says he was headed home when he knocked down Gutierrez, who was pronounced dead on arrival at the Orange Walk Hospital. Police say that Pech did not stop at the scene of the accident but was later detained after a police investigation. Charges are still pending.
