Prisoner busts out of Hattieville in solo escape
It was supposed to provide a remedy for the almost routine prison breaks that used to occur at the old Belize City prison back-a-Baptist. But the three years since the Department of Corrections moved to Hattieville, have been anything but escape proof. Seventeen year old Efrain Tut has become the latest inmate to give authorities the slip, almost with as much ease as he got in. According to officials at Hattieville, Tut walked away from his unsupervised work duties at the bakery around five thirty on Thursday morning. He had been serving a three-year jail sentence for the possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition. One official told News Five that he believes that Tut may have already slipped across the border to his homeland, Guatemala.
