British volunteer found stabbed to death
In crime news, three days after she was reported missing, the body Raleigh International venturer Anna Lightfoot was discovered late Thursday evening. The twenty-seven year old British woman had apparently been stabbed to death not far from the Raleigh base camp in San Pablo Village in the Stann Creek District. Although details of a postmortem examination conducted this afternoon are not yet available, police pathologist Dr. Mario Estradabran reported seeing several stab wounds on Lightfoot’s body. At this time robbery seems the most logical motive for the brutal murder. Reports say that at the time Lightfoot’s body was found, her knapsack was missing. Strangely enough, the contents of the bag, which included grocery items, were found next to her and there was no money on Lightfoot’s person. As we reported on Wednesday, the last time that Lightfoot was seen alive was on Monday, when a friend dropped her off in Red Bank Village, less than three miles from the site of her death.
