Hit and Run murder suspects freed for lack of evidence
Another high profile police prosecution has ended with the case being dropped for lack of evidence. Brothers Salvador and David Lazaro were charged with the hit and run murder of police constable Levi Spain as he rode his bicycle down East Collet Canal in the wee hours of December fourteenth. Although police claimed that forensic evidence would link the men to the crime the police never did produce it and the D.P.P. decided that there was no way the case could proceed. After nearly eight months on remand in Hattieville Prison the Lazaros are today free men.
