Just politics as usual, says Fonseca
For his part, Ralph Fonseca wasted no time in responding to Barrow’s charges, which were carried live on the B.C.B. In fact he made a dramatic entrance while the press conference was still in session and after a brief verbal tussle with the A.G., waited until Barrow was finished before holding an impromptu press conference of his own. Fonseca told News Five that the government’s latest barrage is nothing new.
Ralph Fonseca, Representative, Belize Rural Central
“This is just another political gimmick from very, very desperate people. Mr. Barrow has classified, certified himself, talked about himself as being the master of all games. They are going down the tubes; they are going down the drain now. This is the last straw for them to hold on to one week before the election. So like I said, either that fax is a hoax, a complete hoax that has been fabricated or something has been orchestrated to try to bring this thing up at a time like this. But in any case, it would certainly not be under normal circumstances the matter for calling a national press conference. It has to do with politics, that’s it.”
Fonseca told reporters that it was well known that he has worked as a financial consultant for the Panamanian government and private firms and that the document referred to by Barrow, if it is in fact authentic, could be the work of local Panamanian politicians out to attack his clients in Panama.
