Number of Accidents Involving Motorcycles Increase Significantly

Romero said that in recent times, the number of traffic accidents involving motorcycles has increased significantly and that many times these accidents are preventable, if only the drivers adhere to the traffic laws and drive bikes that are properly outfitted.

“There is an increase in fatal accidents involving motorcycles. Again we encourage the drivers of these motorcycles to respect the speed limits, to respect the traffic laws. Sometimes we look around and see that some of this is based on reckless driving, reckless behavior. We encourage them to follow the rules in an effort to try and minimize these accidents because we are seeing an increase of fatal RTA’s involving motorcycles. We have our highway patrol’s, we also have our checkpoints but again we cannot be everywhere so when it is identified and found then we deal with it but again we encourage the drivers to ensure that their motorcycles have on good lights and reflectors, and that they respect the traffic laws.”
