Devon Jones’ Charges Upgraded to Attempted Murder

Orson "OJ" Elrington

Forty-one-year-old Devon Jones has been charged with attempted murder, almost eight years following an incident in Belize City during which a man was crushed by a vehicle on Freetown Road.  Jones, a resident of Rhaburn Ridge, got into a heated argument with another customer outside of Li Chee Restaurant back in 2014 which ended with Francis Gill being crushed into the wall of the building.  Gill, who is now deceased after being gunned down in a separate incident, ended up losing his leg.  Today, Jones appeared before Justice Ricardo O’Neil Sandcroft where the initial charges of aggravated assault and maim were upgraded to attempted murder.  The matter itself has been languishing before the court for several years.  Sentencing has been deferred to December sixth.
