Woman fined $10,000 for trying to sneak weed into prison
A woman has been fined ten thousand dollars for trying to sneak weed into the Hattieville Prison. On Monday twenty-one year old Janet Bernard was busted with just over two ounces of weed when she was searched by a prison officer. The illicit drug was found inside a plastic bag tucked into Bernard’s tennis shoe. The woman, who had gone to visit her boyfriend, was promptly taken to the Hattieville police station and charged with Drug Trafficking. When Bernard appeared in court this morning to answer to the charges, she admitted to the crime, saying she was selling the weed to feed her children. Regardless of the reason, Bernard was fined ten thousand dollars. Magistrate Dorothy Flowers gave her until June thirtieth to pay the fine and in default she will spend three years in prison.
