Crooked Tree Road to Get Upgrade from G.O.B. Emergency Funds

Evandale Moody

The Ministry of Infrastructure Development is also preparing to upgrade the Crook Tree Road. Just over two miles of the roadway from the Phillip Goldson Highway will be elevated shortly. But what about construction of a much needed causeway into the village? That is what we asked Moody.

Evandale Moody, Engineering Coordinator, Project Execution Unit/MIDH

“At this current point in time we are implementing the upgrade of approximately two point three miles of the Crooked Tree Road. Kindly, bear in mind that the entire length is approximately three point three miles. So, we are upgrading the section from the Phillip Goldson Highway to just where the lagoon commences. Reason being is that those funds for that upgrade is being provided by the Government fo Belize based on the emergency funds that was requested by the government based on the flooding from Julia and Lisa. Our idea is to upgrade those initial two point three kilometers where we are lifting the road from the intersection with the Phillip Goldson Highway up to an elevation of approximately one point five meters above the existing ground level just before you reach the lagoon itself. We are only looking at this portion at this point in time because it will require more detailed design work to do the causeway itself, because in realty that section over the lagoon really needs a cause way and for us to do that we will have to go through an EIA to get approval to do those pilling work we have to do within that sections.”
