Education C.E.O. Says No Learning Gaps due to Hurricane Lisa

Dian Maheia

Education C.E.O. Dian Maheia confirmed with News Five that no learning gap was created, despite the disruptiveness of Hurricane Lisa. This is because the school system has learned how to adapt to hybrid learning.

Dian Maheia, C.E.O., Ministry of Education

“There was adjustment and what we saw is that it was a lot smoother. I am sure there were people thinking what’s going to happen now, there were naysayers, but actually the transition was smooth. The teachers were ready. We know that a lot of teachers were personally affected too. And even with the personal losses that were endured across the central region as we know, we feel that the impact on the general education system was not anywhere near like a COVID loss. We don’t feel like we lost a month of school. We really didn’t. We were able to stay the course and to try to keep the children in school and engaged as much as possible so we are grateful for that.”
