Ten Million Dollars for M.S.M.E.’s through D.F.C.

Moses Shyne Barrow

And as another loan to the D.F.C., The International Cooperation and Development Fund Taiwan (I.C.D.F.) has agreed to loan the D.F.C. ten million dollars to support Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (M.S.M.E.) .The facility is part of Taiwan’s I.C.D.F. efforts to support the recovery of M.S.M.E.’s after the COVID19 pandemic, with a focus on women and green financing. The loan will also be accompanied by a grant component of one million dollars to facilitate D.F.C.’s efforts to strengthen its digitization capabilities. That loan motion was presented during today’s House meeting.

Moses Shyne Barrow, Leader of the Opposition

“Madam Speaker again another loan and it must be recorded the hypocrisy of the Briceño Administration, the P.U.P. administration, and I think you have confused the U.D.P. Barrow administration with when you were deputy Prime Minister under the Said Musa administration. Yes, hang your head. You should hang your head in shame because that is when the run way spending from borrowing money took place. That is when as my colleague from Collet mention, he didn’t want to go down history of the DFC going bankrupt. The other point I would like to make is again access. It is very well you have the program for the small business. But access is key for the rural areas and those in the towns and small communities to make sure that the vulnerable citizen’s gets to participate in this and it’s not just the area representative’s friends and cronies gets to benefit from this investment.”

Prime Minister John Briceño

“All of a sudden now the Honorable Leader of the Opposition knows the rural areas. When your father, your U.D.P. government, the former U.D.P. Prime Minister, former U.D.P. government. You were the music ambassador, and what did you do for music, what did you do for culture, just sit down and get a salary? They were the ones that abandoned the rural areas. You could ask all our colleagues, what did the U.D.P. do for the rural areas, they abandoned them.”
