Belizean murdered in Mexico City

Story Picture
In Belize we have grown used to the shock of sudden crime and senseless taking of life by gun or machete. Tonight we are reminded that the plague of random violence is not limited by national boundaries, as we report news of the death of a Belizean in Mexico. Susan Caroline Hulse, better known as “Sally Sue” was the daughter of well known personality G. Rodwell Hulse. Born in Belize, Sally Sue lived most of her life in Mexico City where she worked as a journalist for a number of English language newspapers. On Monday night she was killed when she and a friend arrived home to her apartment in Mexico’s Zona Rosa, only to find an intruder already inside. Details are still confused but it is believed that the man, apparently a burglar, attacked her friend and when Sally Sue intervened she was stabbed numerous times and died shortly after. Late reports indicate that a suspect has been detained. Sally Sue visited Belize regularly during her career and in 1985, when this footage was taken, she appeared as part of an appeal for victims of the great Mexico City earthquake. News Five today contacted her aunt, Dr. Bernice Hulse, who told us that the family has been devastated by the news. Sally Sue Hulse was sixty years old.
