Summer programs continue at YWCA
Recently we reported on the long awaited opening of the swimming pool at the YWCA on St. Thomas Street. Today we are informed that the pool is being heavily used by the public for recreation and the learn to swim program will continue through the month of August. The “Y” has several other educational programs running, including camps designed to help children learn environmental awareness and get to know their country better. The “know your country” camp will include trips to the Rio Frio Caves, Five Blues Lake, and Nimli Punit Maya site, while the week-long environmental session will be hosted at Bermudian Landing. Funding for the two camps was provided by the Protected Areas Conservation Trust, PACT, while the Youth Department and B.E.L. were cited by the YWCA for their sponsorship of the rest of the summer program.
