Allen was Intended Target of Shooting in Lake I
Last Thursday, we reported on a shooting in the Lake Independence area in which three persons were injured, Kingsley Morrison, Chris Welch and Ulide Allen. While we caught up with police as they processed the scene on Mahogany Street, just past the Complex Building, today, police confirmed that that it was only one of two scenes pertaining to the shooting. As more details were disclosed, the media was informed that the Toyota Camry, which was driven by Morrison, was shot at twice – once on Lacroix Boulevard and then less than a minute later on Mahogany Street. So who were the gunmen targeting? It is believed that Allen was the intended target.
ASP Fitzroy Yearwood, Communications Director, Belize Police Department
“Upon driving on Lacroix Boulevard in the vicinity of the Adventist Church, they came under fire from someone that was standing on the side of the street. Mister Morrison drove off in the direction towards Mahogany Street and upon them reaching in front of Kim’s Construction Supplies; they came under fire again by another gunman. Mister Morrison took out his licensed firearm and returned fire in an effort to try to escape the attack. These men, Mister Morrison, managed to drive to the K.H.M.H. where they received medical treatment. I know that statements have been recorded, police know who they are looking for in connection with this shooting. I do not believe that Mister Morrison has any enemy out there that would want to make sure that he doesn’t escape and attack. So it is obvious that it is the other two occupants.”
