Cruise Stakeholder Take a Look at Draft Port Policy
Minister Chebat holds the portfolio for the Ministry of Public Utilities, Energy, Logistics and E-Governance. Those ministerial responsibilities include oversight of the Belize Port Authority, which is a statutory body charged with determining where a port facility should be to effect port security regulations and compliance. And today a question was posed to him on the issue of having a relevant port policy in place, in light of the fierce competition that cruise tourism has created, particularly in Belize City.
Michel Chebat, Minister of Logistics
“The Port policy is an important one and we’ve been working on it. It is out for consultation. It is not a policy that will just come with input from the government itself, but all stakeholders are being given an opportunity to look at what we’ve come up with and to make sure that it is a right fit for the country.”
