Minister Chebat: Many Government Ministries and Departments Have Been Digitalized
While the Ministry of E-Governance used a student competition to help spread the pros and cons of the Internet, digitalization is a necessary tool that the various government ministries and departments all need in this era to conduct business at the speed of the rest of the world. Leading the charge in that task is the Ministry of E-Governance, headed by Minister Michel Chebat. He says so far, there has been significant progress made.
Michel Chebat, Minister of E-Governance
“We’ve done quite a lot. We’ve helped the Ministry of Labour with their online application (forms) for temporary work permits. We have done quite a number of legislations. We’re working on the national i.d., we’re working on the digitalization of the V.S.U. (Vital Statistics Unit). You know that’s a big one for us. We want people all across the country to be able to access their birth certificates and so forth from wherever they are across the country. So we’re working on all of those projects, which we feel will be transformational for our people.”
