Charges Brought Against Shamar Foreman for Gang Membership
Twenty-two-year-old Shamar Foreman and a sixteen-year-old male minor appeared unrepresented before Magistrate Dennison Mannan earlier today where they were jointly charged for the offense of producing a video recording that promotes gang activity. They were also charged for being a member of a gang. Last week, a homemade video depicting a group of young men brandishing a loaded firearm menacingly, began making its rounds on social media. In court, both defendants were informed that under Section Sixteen of the Crime Control and Criminal Justice Act, the lower court cannot grant bail until nine days, but that they have the right to apply to the Supreme Court with the help of an attorney. The sixteen-year-old now joins a colleague of the same age, as well as Foreman, an eighteen-year old Iver Dominguez, and Ian Ferguson who were arraigned on January third on similar offenses. The case against Foreman and the minor has been adjourned to March seventh, 2023.
