Hard Time or Hard Pay Home Owners?
So far, the Ministry of Infrastructure Development and Housing has handed over close to two hundred starter homes to some of the neediest families across the country. The homes cost a hundred dollars per month and these families will pay that amount for ten years after which they will assume ownership. But along the way, some of these recipients have fallen short on payments. It is an issue that, as Alamilla explained, the Ministry of Infrastructure Development and Housing will be following up with the families.

“We have a system right now that we are putting in place where we will be calling the recipients that have not been making their monthly payments, for whatever reason, cause we are not sure why they’re not doing it. We are going to be contacting them in January to try to see how we can assist, guide them or to see what’s going on, you know because life is real and we have to recognize that the people that we service are the most needy in our country, they are the people that need it the most. There’s not a single recipient that does not need what we are delivering.”
