Steven Vernon Charged for Being a Member of San Juan Bloods
Twenty-three-year-old Steven Allen Vernon, a construction worker of San Mateo area, San Pedro also appeared before Magistrate Mannan this morning where he was read a single charge of being a member of a gang. It is alleged that Vernon is a member of the San Juan Bloods, a gang on the island town that is engaged in various criminal activities. In court, Vernon pleaded not guilty to the charge, but due to the nature of the offense, he was remanded to the Belize Central Prison until March seventh. A GI3 investigation into several gangs in San Pedro reveals that the San Juan Bloods consists of about twenty-two members, including male and female, who comb the beach for drugs and other illicit items. The gang which has a camp north of the island has been involved in various shootings, murder, illegal possession of firearms and drug trafficking.
