ComPol Williams, armed with the figures, listed out the number of murders per capita, by year, and the overall percentages.
Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police
“2012, the country saw one hundred and forty-five murders. That equates to forty-two point five per capita. That‘s extremely high. 2013 is the best year that we had under the previous administration, where we had ninety-nine murders that year which represents twenty-eight point three per capita. 2014, one hundred and thirty-three murders which represented then, thirty-four point three per capita. 2015, one hundred and nineteen represented thirty-two point three per capita. 2016, one hundred and thirty-eight represented thirty-six point five per capita. 2017, one hundred and forty-two representing thirty-six point six per capita. 2018, one forty-three representing thirty-five point nine per capita. 2019, one [hundred] and thirty-four representing thirty-two point eight per capita. 2020, one [hundred] and two which is our best year, represented twenty-four point three per capita. 2021, one [hundred] and twenty-five or twenty-nine point five per capita and 2022, one hundred and thirteen, twenty-five per capita. So we have the best per capita rating right now and we have gone from being number three in the Caribbean region to being number six which shows that we are doing something right.”
