Are Alleged Family Members of Elmer Nah Intimidating Witnesses?
And, while the family of the murder victims is demanding justice, there are reports that a so-called relative of Police Corporal Elmer Nah visited a location in Belmopan not far from where the deadly shooting occurred. News Five has received surveillance footage of where the alleged family member made a visit on Saturday, along with two other men. It is important to note that those very same surveillance cameras cover a large portion of the street located directly in front of the property they visited, and may contain information pertinent to the night of the murder. We asked police about these reports today.
Fitzroy Yearwood, Communications Director, Belize Police Department
“I cannot confirm whether or not that is happening, but I am certain our investigators will do their due diligence so when your relative is in trouble you will do anything to try and disprove the laws or investigators. So, if that person is out there tampering with witness and if these witnesses reported to the police then we know exactly how to deal with those persons. But, if you sit in silence and don’t report it to the police then we wouldn’t have knowledge of what you are going through. But, I would want to take this opportunity to invite these persons, whether you are being interview or asked for your video footage or so forth, to call us and notify us so that we can put a stop to these persons. We don’t want anyone to interfere with the wheels of justice and we at the department owe the victims of these crimes the responsibility for bringing those responsible to justice for them on their behalf.”
