New school building for Calvary Temple
When the new school year commences on August thirty first, there is one bunch of primary school students who will be anxiously waiting to get into their classrooms. Today the staff and students of Calvary Temple School on Regent Street West, attended ceremonies officially opening their brand new concrete school building. The structure, which was built at a cost of over one hundred and sixty four thousand dollars, consists of a principal’s office, luncheon area, two bathrooms and six classrooms. According to Principal Julia Allen, the additional classrooms will bring her boys and girls a much healthier environment for learning.

“Well it’s extremely necessary because especially in the rainy months our classrooms are flooded plus the grounds are very flooded and the place is cramped. We have students but it is not conducive to learning because it doesn’t have very good lighting and not very good benches and things. So with this new building we think it is going to enhance learning because the children will feel like they are in an atmosphere where learning is going to be better, because we know when you look good, you feel good, you act good, right.”
The construction of the school started in December of last year and was made possible through the Basic Needs Trust Fund.
