MICS7 to Kick Off in Late 2023
The M.O.U. was signed by Doctor Osmond Martinez, Chief Executive Officer in the Ministry of Economic Development and Diana Castillo-Trejo, Director General of S.I.B. The Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey will be implemented from the second quarter of 2023 to the end of the third quarter of 2024 by the Statistical Institute of Belize.
Dr. Osmond Martinez, C.E.O., Ministry of Economic Development
“In Belize, each ministry, organization and business has the same barriers, a lack of data. We struggle to develop sustainable policies and evidence-based decision making because it is in the absence of the backdrop of information needed to do so. With the help of organizations like the Statistical Institute of Belize and the Sustainable Development Unit we have managed to overcome many ads and produce sound data, but we know as a country we must do more.”
Diana Castillo Trejo, Director General, Statistical Institute of Belize
“The MICS is the largest source of statistically sound and internationally comparable data on children and women, and now men, worldwide. It’s a vital sources for data on planning, monitoring progress, policy development and, as C.E.O. said, informed decision making. It contributes to the strengthening of data and monitoring systems through a great deal of capacity building that takes place in the lead up to each MICS survey and through the MICS, a hundred and thirty indicators are collected and compiled and these include at least thirty-three SDG indicators.”
