No progress in Cayo robbery/kidnap

In crime news, police have released a taxi driver who was detained for questioning in connection with a failed kidnapping and robbery last Saturday afternoon in San Ignacio. Thirty-one year old Orestes Cho was being questioned for possible involvement in the incident despite his claim that he himself was a victim of the bandits. Cho told police that he picked up three men near the bus stop, not far from Juan Chuc’s store on Saturday afternoon, and that shortly after he did, the men commandeered the car, held up the store and kidnapped the owner. The car, however, overturned on the Bullet Tree Road and Chuc was able to escape his captors. San Ignacio police are sticking by their initial belief that the kidnappers, identified as Hispanics, are from across the border. Their investigations continue.
