Said Musa reminds PUP exec. to pay for assets

If you think that’s the only political stench, the PUP is also in turmoil. In August, it appeared that the old and new guards of the People’s United Party were closing ranks; the former and current party leaders were seen chummy at party events. That was just before the courts decided on the case of theft against the former Prime Minister, Said Musa, who was subsequently given a seat on the party’s national executive along with a number of his allies. The first sign that not all things were as they seem under the blue tent, was on the occasion of the People’s United Party’s birthday on September twentieth. Musa launched his book ‘’With Malice Toward None’’ while John Briceño was seen along with Charlie Good at the steps of the Supreme Court. So did Musa show malice today when he stepped up to settle an old matter? That’s the party assets, which include the Belize Times, Positive Vibes and Independence Hall that has been in dispute since the change of leadership last year. Attorneys for Musa wrote Briceño a stern letter reminding him that he has refused and failed to pay the balance of the purchase price for the party assets. According to the letter of October sixteenth, ”You are advised that unless full settlement is made on or before the thirtieth of October 2009, the agreement will be treated as repudiated by you and our clients will have no other alternative than to re-possess the assets.” The party assets have been valued at nine hundred thousand dollars toward which a payment has been made of one hundred thousand dollars. Word to News Five is that things are expected to get quite nasty this Saturday when the executive meets. And for now all things are on the table for the Briceño camp and that includes settling in court.
