Hitchhiker killed when truck overturns

A Belize City man was killed this afternoon when the vehicle he had hitched a ride in, overturned on the Western Highway. Tony Enriquez was riding in the back of this pickup truck that was heading west towards Belmopan when he was apparently flung to his death. Lawrence Cayetano, driver of the vehicle, told police that upon reaching between miles twenty four and twenty five, the truck hydroplaned on a piece of wet pavement, causing him to loose control and overturn several times. Cayetano sustained only minor injuries, while another passenger who was in the cab, Gaspar Martinez, also of San Ignacio, suffered a broken leg.
