Tracy Panton Says Patrick Faber Should Be Brought Back into the U.D.P.
Albert Area Representative Tracy Panton shares the position of the U.D.P.’s Caucus for Change that Collet Area Rep Patrick Faber should be returned to that constituency as the party’s candidate of choice going into the next general elections. Earlier this week, the Caucus for Change, led by John Saldivar, issued a statement in which it was calling for unity within the fractured political party and also recommended that Faber be brought back into the fold. Earlier today, News Five spoke with fellow parliamentarian Tracy Panton for her views on the matter.
Tracy Panton, Area Representative, Albert
“I think that due process out to have been followed in the case of Patrick Faber. I think that as a mass political party, we have a duty and an obligation to be fair to all parties concerned and in this case, in my opinion, we didn‘t follow all the steps as required by the constitution of the party. Patrick is the most senior parliamentarian on our roster as we speak. There were some issues that I think needed to be sorted out indeed, but there was a way and there is a process for that to be done. Some steps were missed, in my opinion. I believe that Patrick should be brought back to Collet. You know, there was a convention, an endorsement convention held in Collet, again that departed from the constitutional provisions for a convention to be held and I have no, I certainly think Mr. Ian Jones is a very strong member of the United Democratic Party and should also be treated fairly. But what was done to the honorable Patrick Faber, in my view, really was a departure from the principles and values, the guidelines that the party operates within and therefore I think he should allowed to be reinstated, personally.”
