Sergio Chuc’s Plan for Belize, Region as Member of CONCACAF Council
With his new post, Sergio Chuc was asked about his plans for Belize and the region when it comes to further developing the sport. Here’s what he had to say.
Sergio Chuc, Appointed Member, CONCACAF Council
“Now that I sit on the decision making board, of course I will have to take off my hat as the president of Belize and I want to be straight up, I am the representative of UNCAF, which is the Central American region on the board because there are three members – one for UNCAF, one for the Caribbean and one for North American and I am the representative of UNCAF. So I would have to put on my UNCAF hat and then I will have to put on the CONCACAF hat which means we will have to be looking out for the whole region. Of course, we are all human beings and my heart is here with Belize and whatever I could do for Belize I would have to influence. Now that I can influence the process, I can influence the process so that better could come our way to Belize. We have been doing quite well in the confederation. Panama just qualified to the female world cup and to the U-seventeen world cup which are huge steps. Honduras just qualified to the U-seventeen world cup also. The region is doing quite well but us, in Belize, have a lot of catching up to do. So I think the focus will be mainly on Belize to reach at par with Central America. So I had the confidence of the other six Central American presidents that recommended it because they want the whole Central American region to be at par.”
