Happy End To a Missing Principal’s Report
In most cases, when an adult goes missing, the story ends in tragedy for their loved ones. But in this case, we’re happy to report that a woman who was listed as missing on Monday morning and whose disappearance worried the Hattieville community has returned home safely. The sudden disappearance of Sharlette Jacobs, the Principal of the Hattieville Seventh Day Adventist Primary School on Monday, concerned even the police, to the point that, contrary to the norm, they immediately posted her missing. What triggered the panic was a message that Jacobs left her family, and then was last seen on the roadside. Thereafter, all efforts to contact her were futile. Her worried husband notified the police, which then issued the missing person flyer. But while our news team was out in Hattieville trying to retrace Jacobs’ steps, we found out from her husband that she had returned home just a while earlier. Both husband and wife decided to assure their concerned family and friends that everything was alright, and Jacobs, who was on leave, told us that she will return to school on Wednesday.
Sharlette Jacobs, Returned Home Safely
“I’m feeling good this morning, thankful to be alive, thankful to be back home with my family.”
Marion Ali
“Were you in any kind of danger at any point?”
Sharlette Jacobs
“At no point was I in any danger, whether to my immediate self or to others. That was never the intention.”
Marion Ali
“A lot of people were worrying about you when the story was revealed, you know, that you might have been in some kind of situation.”
Sharlette Jacobs
“I guess that is understandable. With all care and concern, I’m glad that my husband, you know, he took it upon himself to make the report to call, to know that something was off, to know that this was not the norm, as it were. And so I’m thankful for that, you know, because a lot of times we take little things for granted, but, all in all, yes, I’m doing very well, mentally sound and, I’m happy to be back home.”
Marion Ali
“Okay. Sir, what about you? How are you feeling now?”
Husband of Sharlette Jacobs
“Well, very happy due to the fact that ih alive, right? And, I don’t have to explain nothing to the girls that something bad happened. And so I’m happy for that.”
Marion Ali
“Your girls at how old?”
Husband
“Nine and four.”
Marion Ali
“Can you say when you’re going back to school?”
Sharlette Jacobs
“I’m expected to return to work tomorrow morning for regular duties.”
Marion Ali
“Do you think you’ll have to explain what happened?”
Sharlette Jacobs
“Well, to some degree, yes. I’m in contact with my manager and local manager and they’re fully aware of the situation. Like I said, there comes a point in time when everybody needs a little break. The fact that it was alarming is because it’s out of the norm for me, you know. As women, we’re expected to push, to push and to just be go-getters. And in terms of the position that I hold and the role that I play in this community, it was out of the norm for me. But, it was better that way, you know? And I’m thankful to be back. I’m thankful that I had so many people praying and caring for me. I didn’t know because I didn’t have any device with me. And once I learned that information that, you know, I was reported missing, that’s when I made contact and I made my way back home.”
